Philippines - 12 January 2012

The Commission has received an application [PDFPDF: 32 KB] from Qantas seeking an allocation of 180 seats per week on the Philippines route.  Other applications for the capacity are invited.

The closing date for notice of intention to make an application is COB (ie 5pm) 19 January 2012, with the application due by COB 26 January 2012.  If no notice of intention is received by COB 19 January 2012, the Commission may proceed to make a determination.


Singapore - 13 December 2011

The Commission has received an application [PDFPDF: 412 KB] from HeavyLift Cargo Airlines requesting an allocation of unlimited all-cargo capacity on the Singapore route.  Other applications for capacity are invited.

The closing date for notice of intention to make an application is COB (ie 5pm) 20 December 2011, with the application due by COB 6 January 2012.  If no notice of intention is received by COB 20 December 2011, the Commission may proceed to make a determination.

On 10 January 2012 the Commission requested HeavyLift provide additional information in support of its application.

Update - 17 January 2012

On 16 January 2012 HeavyLift Cargo Airlines wrote to the Commission withdrawing their application for capacity on the Singapore route.


Fiji - 1 December 2011

The Commission has received an application [PDFPDF: 70 KB] from Pacific Air Express for an allocation of 17.5 tonnes of freight capacity per week on the Fiji route.  Other applications for the capacity are invited.

The closing date for notice of intention to make an application is COB (ie 5pm) 8 December 2011, with the application due by COB 15 December 2011.  If no notice of intention is received by COB 8 December 2011, the Commission may proceed to make a determination.

Update - 19 December 2011

On 19 December 2011 the Delegate, on behalf of the Commission, issued Determination [2011] IASC 134 [PDFPDF: 98 KB] allocating 17.5 tonnes of freight capacity per week on the Fiji route as requested.


Vietnam - 18 November 2011

The Commission has received an application [PDFPDF: 425 KB] from Strategic Airlines, trading as Air Australia Airways, for an allocation of four frequencies per week from Australia's mainline ports.  Strategic have also applied for unlimited capacity between points in Australia, other than Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, and authorised points in Vietnam. Other applications for the capacity are invited.

 The closing date for notice of intention to make an application is COB (ie 5pm) 25 November 2011, with the application due by COB 2 December 2011.  If no notice of intention is received by COB 25 November 2011, the Commission may proceed to make a determination.

Update - 9 December 2011

On 8 December 2011 the Delegate, on behalf of the Commission, issued Determination [2011] IASC 133 [PDFPDF: 106 KB] to Strategic Airlines, allocating four frequencies per week to and from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth and unlimited capacity to and from all other points in Australia.


Thailand - 15 November 2011

Qantas has applied [PDFPDF: 46 KB] to the Commission for an allocation of two frequencies per week on the Thailand route.  Qantas plans to use the capacity for third country code share services with Jetstar Asia between Singapore and Thailand.  Other applications for the capacity are invited.

The closing date for notice of intention to make an application is COB (ie 5pm) 22 November 2011, with the application due by COB 29 November 2011.  If no notice of intention is received by COB 22 November 2011, the Commission may proceed to decide the matters under consideration as soon as practicable after that date.

Qantas has withdrawn this application for capacity.


Renewal of determinations expiring in 2012 - 20 October 2011

Other applications for the capacity are invited.  The closing date for notice of intention to make an application is COB 27 October 2011, with applications due by COB 3 November 2011, unless additional time is sought and agreed to by the Commission.

Chile - 4 October 2011

Qantas has applied [PDFPDF: 54 KB] to the Commission for a variation to Determination [2011] IASC 114 to permit LAN Airlines to code share on Qantas services.  Submissions about the application are invited.

The closing date for notice of intention to make a submission is COB 12 October 2011, with the submissions due by COB 19 October 2011.  If no notice of intention is received by COB 12 October 2011, the Commission may proceed to decide the matters under consideration as soon as practicable after that date.

South Africa - 16 August 2011

Qantas have applied [PDFPDF: 107 KB] to the Commission for approval of an extension to the code share arrangements between Qantas and South African Airways.  Submissions about the application are invited.

The closing date for notice of intention to make a submission is COB 23 August 2011, with the submissions due by COB 30 August 2011.  If no notice of intention is received by COB 23 August 2011, the Commission may proceed to decide the matters under consideration as soon as practicable after that date.

Update - 17 November 2011 - Draft Decision

On 17 November 2011 the Commission issued Draft Decision [2011] IASC d220 [PDFPDF: 195 KB] which proposes to extend the code share arrangements between Qantas and South African Airways until 31 December 2012.  Submissions about the Draft Decision are invited.   The closing date for notice of intention to make a submission is COB 24 November 2011 with submissions due by COB 1 December. If no notice of intention is received by COB 24 November 2011, the Commission may proceed to a final decision.

Update - 12 December 2011 - Extension of Decision [2010] IASC 204

On 2 December 2011 the Commission decided in [2011] IASC R15 [PDFPDF: 9 KB] to extend the current decision authorising the code share arrangements between Qantas and South African Airways until 31 March 2012 to enable South African Airways and Qantas to make submissions on Draft Decision [2011] IASC d220.  The Commission expects to make a final Decision by 31 March 2012.

Update - 3 February 2011

Both Qantas and South African Airways have provided confidential submissions to the Commission.  The Commission has requested that both also provide public submissions generally outlining their position which the Commission will publish on the website in due course.
