Papua New Guinea - 7 June 2010

The Commission has received an application [PDFPDF: 95 KB] from Pacific Air Express (Australia) Pty Ltd (ABN 26 074 265 553) seeking an allocation of 17.5 tonnes of freight capacity on the Papua New Guinea route.  Other applications for the capacity are invited. 

The closing date for notice of intention to make an application is COB 14 June 2010, with applications due by COB 21 June 2010.  If no notice of intention is received by COB 14 June 2010, the Commission may proceed to decide the matters under consideration as soon as practicable after that date.

Update - 15 June 2010

On 15 June 2010, the delegate of the Commission issued Determination [2010] IASC 105 [PDFPDF: 84 KB] allocating 17.5 tonnes of freight capacity per week to Pacific Air Express for five years from the date of the determination.


Italy - 1 June 2010

The Commission has received an application [PDFPDF: 70 KB] from Qantas Airways Limited (ACN 009 661 901) (Qantas) seeking an allocation of 400 third country code share seats per week of capacity on the Italy route.  Other applications for the capacity are invited. 

The closing date for notice of intention to make an application is COB 8 June 2010, with applications due by COB 15 June 2010.  If no notice of intention is received by COB 8 June 2010, the Commission may proceed to decide the matters under consideration as soon as practicable after that date.

Update - 8 June 2010

On 8 June 2010, the Delegate of the Commission issued Determination [2010] IASC 104 [PDFPDF: 86 KB], allocating 400 third-country code share seats per week in each direction on the Italy route.  The determination is for five years from the date of the determination.


Singapore - 11 May 2010

The Commission has received an application [PDFPDF: 65 KB] from Qantas Airways Limited (ACN 009 661 901) (Qantas) seeking a variation to Determination [2007] IASC 116 [PDFPDF: 101 KB] which allocates capacity on the Singapore route.  The variation sought would permit China Eastern Airlines to code share on Qantas services between Australia and Singapore.  Submissions about this application are invited.

The closing date for notice of intention to make an application is COB 18 May 2010, with submissions due by COB 25 may 2010.  If no notice of intention is received by COB 18 may 2010, the Commission may proceed to decide on the matters under consideration as soon as practicable after that date.

Update - 25 May 2010

On the 25 May 2010, the Commission issued Decision [2010] IASC 202 [PDFPDF: 84 KB] permitting China Eastern Airlines to code share on Qantas services between Australia and Singapore.


Korea - 10 May 2010

The Commission has received an application [PDFPDF: 63 KB] from Qantas Airways Limited (ACN 009 661 901) (Qantas) seeking an allocation of unlimited capacity and frequency for all cargo services on the Korea route.  Other applications for the capacity are invited.

The closing date for notice of intention to make an application is COB 17 May 2010, with applications due by COB 24 May 2010.  If no notice of intention is received by COB 17 May 2010, the Commission may proceed to decide the matters under consideration as soon as practicable after that date.

Update - 18 May 2010

On 18 May 2010 the Delegate of the Commission issued Determination [2010] IASC 103 [PDFPDF: 90 KB] allocating unlimited capacity and frequency for all-cargo services on the Korea route.


Cook Islands - 30 March 2010

The Commission has received an application [PDFPDF: 80 KB] from Pacific Blue Airlines Pty Ltd (ABN 79 097 892 389) (Pacific Blue Australia) seeking an allocation of two frequencies per week on the Cook Islands route.  The airline plans to add two B737-800 services per week on the route.  An allocation of 360 seats per week is required to facilitate the two weekly services. Other applications for some or all of the capacity sought by Pacific Blue Australia are invited.

Please note that additional capacity entitlements for Australian carriers were concluded recently between the aeronautical authorities of Australia and the Cook Islands. There are now 2,660 seats per week of capacity available for allocation.

The closing date for notice of intention to make an application is COB 8 April 2010, with applications due by COB 15 April 2010.  If no notice of intention is received by COB 8 April 2010, the Commission may proceed to decide the matters under consideration as soon as practicable after that date.

Update - 12 April 2010

On 9 April 2010 the delegate of the Commission issued Determination [2010] IASC 102 [PDFPDF: 213 KB] allocating 360 seats of capacity in each direction to Pacific Blue for a period of five years.


 Papua New Guinea - 12 March 2010

The Commission has received an application from Qantas Airways Limited (ACN 009 661 901) (Qantas) seeking an allocation of 888 seats of capacity per week on the Papua New Guinea route [PDFPDF: 60 KB]. The airline plans to introduce 12 Bombardier Dash8-Q400 services per week between Cairns and Port Moresby from July 2010. Other applications for some or all of the capacity sought by Qantas are invited.

The closing date for notice of intention to make an application is COB 19 March 2010, with applications due by COB 26 March 2010, unless additional time is sought and agreed to by the Commission. If no notice of intention to apply is received by COB 19 March 2010, the Commission may proceed to decide the matters under consideration as soon as practicable after that date.

Update - 25 March 2010

On 24 March 2010, the Commission issued Determination [2010] IASC 101 [PDFPDF: 96 KB] which allocates 888 seats of capacity in each direction on the route to Qantas.


 Fiji - 22 February 2010

V Australia has applied for a variation of Determination [2008] IASC 117 to transfer to Pacific Blue Australia the 360 seats of capacity per week allocated by the Determination (V Australia application) – [PDFPDF: 88 KB]. Submissions about the application are invited. The closing date for notice of intention to make a submission is 1 March 2010, with submissions due by 8 March 2010 unless additional time is sought and agreed to by the Commission.

If no notice of intention is received by cob 1 March 2010, the Commission may proceed to decide the matters under consideration as soon as practicable after that date.

Update - 2 March 2010

On 2 March 2010 the Commission issued Decision [2010] IASC 201[PDFPDF: 120 KB] varying Determination [2008] IASC 117 as requested by transferring from V Australia to Pacific Blue Australia the allocation of 360 seats of capacity per week.


Singapore - 26 October 2009

The Commission has received an application from Australian Indian Ocean Territories Airlines (AIOTA) for unlimited capacity between Christmas Island and Singapore.  AIOTA plans to wet-lease a Boeing 737-300 from Our Airlines for these operations.  AIOTA application. [PDFPDF: 121 KB]   Other applications for the capacity are invited.  The closing date for notice of intention to make an application is 2 November 2009, with submissions due by 9 November 2009, unless additional time is sought and agreed to by the Commission. 

Update - 27 October 2009

The Commission has written to the Department seeking its views as to whether the airline is reasonably capable of getting the necessary approvals.  The letter may be found here. [PDFPDF: 318 KB]
