The International Air Services Commission (the Commission) has received an application from Qantas seeking to vary multiple determinations, to permit IndiGo to code share on Jetstar's operated services on the Indonesia, New Zealand, Singapore and Thailand routes. The determinations requested to be varied are listed below:
Indonesia
- [2023] IASC 107, allocating 14,468 seats per week for the exercise of third and fourth freedom rights;
- [2024] IASC 113, allocating 2,320 seats of passenger capacity; and
- [2024] IASC 128, allocating 1,624 seats with 7 frequencies per week, for the exercise of beyond traffic rights beyond Denpasar.
New Zealand
- [2023] IASC 123, allocating unlimited passenger and freight capacity and frequency.
Singapore
- [2017] IASC 131, allocating unlimited capacity and frequency for services other than all-cargo services.
Thailand
- [2021] IASC 110, allocating 35.6 B747 equivalent units and 26 third country code share frequencies per week of passenger capacity.
Invitation for Submissions
In accordance with section 22 of the International Air Services Commission Act 1992, the Commission invites submissions about the variation application.
The closing date for making a submission is 31 July 2025. If you are intending to make a submission, please inform the Director of the Commission, by email (at contact@iasc.gov.au), of your intention as soon as possible.
Update: 18-August-2025
On 14 August 2025, the Commission issued the following decisions regarding the variation applications:
- Decision [2025] IASC 213 which varies Determination [2021] IASC 110 on the Thailand route to permit the use of the capacity for code sharing between Jetstar and IndiGo. The permission is valid for the duration of the determination commencing from 14 August 2025.
- Decision [2025] IASC 211 which varies Determinations [2023] IASC 107, [2024] IASC 113 and [2024] IASC 128 on the Indonesia route to permit the use of the capacity allocated for code sharing between Jetstar and IndiGo. The permission is valid for the duration of the determination commencing from 14 August 2025.
- Decision [2025] IASC 212 which varies Determination [2023] IASC 123 on the New Zealand route to permit the use of the capacity allocated for code sharing between Jetstar and IndiGo. The permission is valid for the duration of the determination commencing from 14 August 2025.
